Information on computers and servers at the BIOP, protocols, setups and howto's.
= Remote control of BIOP Computers =
If you want to connect remotely to a computer we recommend using **Remote Desktop Manager** and not TeamViewer.
# Ask for the remote access to a computer by asking to a BIOP staff (via e-mail or in person)
# Start Remote Desktop Manager on your local computer and enter the address using the AD-name (from the table below).
| Windows | the program is already installed |
| Mac | install the [[ https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id1295203466?mt=12 | windows remote desktop client ]] |
|Linux | install the client [[ https://remmina.org/how-to-install-remmina/ | Remmina ]] |
(IMPORTANT) **Logging off your remote session** {F21760948, size=full}
(IMPORTANT) Ex: To connect to the //**CF01 - Zeiss LSM 700 IN1**// enter // **PTBIOPPC4**//
(NOTE) For MAC users, if the AD-name is not sufficient, try the AD-name followed by intranet.epfl.ch , ie //**SV-01-183.intranet.epfl.ch**//
(NOTE) From outside EPFL: Use the [[ https://www.epfl.ch/campus/services/ressources-informatiques/network-services-reseau/acces-intranet-a-distance/clients-vpn-disponibles/ | VPN client]]
and enter the AD-name followed by intranet.epfl.ch , ie //**SV-01-183.intranet.epfl.ch**//
== SafeNet ==
PCs that are not running Windows 10 are migrated to a SafeNet which needs a special protocol for remote connections, Please see our [[ bioimaging_and_optics_platform_biop/computers-servers/safenet ]] page.
//BTW To know who's logged in on any computer, type `qwinsta /server:Computer_name` in a windows command prompt//
