adds better support for VSI files with different imaging modalities

Images are not properly saved as RGB or composite when batch-exporting.
The previous version exported in one mode only (RGB or multichannel) regardless of the specific modality of the image. Because we can take images with either the color or black and white cameras in a single VSI file, we updated the code so that series will be saved properly.
