Information on computers and servers at the BIOP, protocols, setups and howto's.
Remote control of BIOP Computers
If you want to connect remotely to a computer we recommend using Remote Desktop Manager and not TeamViewer.
- Ask for the remote access to a computer by asking to a BIOP staff (via e-mail or in person)
- Start Remote Desktop Manager on your local computer and enter the address using the AD-name (from the table below).

SafeNet
PCs that are not running Windows 10 are migrated to a SafeNet which needs a special protocol for remote connections, Please see our Windows SafeNet page.
Ex: To connect to the CF01 - Zeiss LSM 700 IN1 enter PTBIOPPC4
From outside EPFL: Use the VPN client
and enter the AD-name followed by intranet.epfl.ch , ie SV-01-183.intranet.epfl.ch
BTW To know who's logged in on any computer, type qwinsta /server:Computer_name in a windows command prompt
